I don't think the people he has met so far have altered his character that much, but it does put his action into perspective. Reading the beginning of the book makes you think, "Tom is really a bad kid, and he causes too much trouble," but after meeting Huckleberry Finn, you realize that Tom isn't as bad as he could be.

I agree, Kalen. Instead of him being a "bad kid" I think hes more like a class clown, but it doesn't seem like he does it for the attention I think he does it for the adventure.

I think if anybody changed him even a little bit it would be Huck because he is a "bad boy" and Tom isn't necessarily bad so much as he is tricky. I suppose he might not have snuck out those nights if it wasn't for Huck.

I agree. Even at the end of the book Tom is still the sly, childish boy he was at the beginning even after meeting Becky, Huck and Muff Potter.
