I think that Tom is a trouble maker, I say this because throughout the book he is always getting into trouble.
Evidence: " Chapter 1 one he steals the jam, when his aunt tells him not too," chapter 5 he lets a pinch bug out during church and causes a disruption. Chapter 7 toms and his friend play with pinch bug and get in trouble by the teacher." There are many other times in the book where he gets into trouble.

I agree tom is such a trouble maker because he pretends to be sick to get out of going to school and he traded lessons for the tickets to get the bible in his church

Yes, Dewansh I would say that Tom is energetic and fun and not everyone can handle that also I think that he is an extraordinary young fellow and no one else in the book is ready for his thoughts and spins on how to make life more exciting.

I think Tom is genius. He got people to paint his fence, he scammed people into giving him their Sunday school tickets, he even sneaked out of the house and came back without anybody noticing! "If he hadn't run out of whitewash he could have bankrupt every boy in the village (25)" "He waylaid other boys as they came and went on buying tickets of various colors 10-15 minutes longer. (41)" "He undressed with excessive caution, and fell asleep congratulating himself that nobody knew of his escapade (107)"

Is is not quite genius, but he very cunning and smart, even though everyone including himself denies it. Tom is good at scamming and escaping, but he needs to accept all of the good in his life, and do away with the hiding from it. I bet you Tom is a great person, he just not willing to accept the facts.

I agree with you, I think it showed intelligence when he made a boat and went to the island. I also think it showed intelligence because he used survival skills and cooked.

I also think that tom is very very smart. I say this because he tricks the boys into thinking that whitewashing is fun, so they do the whitewashing for him, so he doesn't have to do it. Also at Sunday school he traded the gifts he got from whitewashing to get tickets for a bible.

I feel that Tom Sawyer is smart but at times can be very crafty. One reason I feel this way is that at Sunday school he kept trading items for tickets and once he had enough to get a bible he did so just to impress some people. The other kids he traded with felt that they had been duped.

I agree with Tim. I would describe Tom as savvy also. He knows how to trick people into doing things for him. One example is when Tom tricks boys into whitewashing the fence for him. "If he hadn't run out of whitewash, he would have bankrupted every boy in the village.'' (25)

I would say Tom Sawyer's personality would have to be daring and brave
since he dared to go into the graveyard to see the murdured man
and he is a good keeping secrets sort of person due to the fact he and Sid promised not to tell anyone what they saw .

I totally and completely support the fact that Tom Sawyer is crafty and intelligent but I have to disagree with the opinion that he is misguided, he just follows his own set of rules. I believe the adults in his community should allow him to continue to do what he does but just focus his energies into something positive.

I support this claim because he does seem to have his own guidelines and rules to follow, and doesn't seem to care what adults make of it. I don't support putting that use into positive action because Tom will just deny and lie as he did about the fence. He will also just purposely fail and do worse than his real possible potential. Tom should either be tricked into it, or be left alone with positive action.

I think that Tom Sawyer is a sly and brave little boy. Tom is sly because he always has a way to get out of doing his work by tricking people into thinking it's fun or more important than it seems. Like when he tricked Ben Rodgers into giving him his apple so that he could paint the fence that only "certain people" can paint. I also believe that Tom is brave because he has the courage to talk to the town "bad boy" Huckleberry Finn when every mother despises him and not a lot of people talk to him.

I think Tom Sawyer is a big lair as shown in chapter 2 when he lies to all the kids and tricks them into whitewashing the fence for him and lies to his aunt again in the same chapter when he takes credit for whitewashing the fence.

I think that Tom tries to act like he doesn't care as much as he can, even when it's not right. But when he has to, he shows that he actually cares inside, and that he's actually a kind hearted human being.

Tom loves to be the center of attention. He traded things for the tickets, do he could get a Bible. None of the kids his age had gotten a Bible so he got tons of attention for earning it. He also made the fact the he had to whitewash the fence, sound so fun and like such a amazing experience that the other kids wanted to do it to.
